Soccer time

Mike and I took Michael outside to play while Brendan napped
the other day to take advantage of the nice weather.
Michael loved chasing after us as we played 'keep away'.
I knew he had a great time when he turned to me 2 nights later as
I put him to bed and said, "I had so much fun playing soccer with Daddy
and Mommy."

Our chatterbox, Michael

Recently, Michael has said some really funny and cute things that amaze us...here are a few!
- greeting me in the bathroom one morning, he says, "Mom, did you have a good night sleep?"
- "I love you guys" after he woke up from his nap
- after handing him a bag of goldfish, he says "It's my favorite snack in the whole world."
- "Brendan, I'm so proud of you!" & "Your my best baby ever."
- not hungry yet for breakfast he tells me "Mom, my belly is not growing (growling). I'm just fine."
- after telling him I'm happy that he ate his dinner, he says "I want to give you a hug. Thanks for making my dinner.  I'm so glad your happy, Mom."

Also to note, one of the shows Michael watches at this time is Super Agent Oso and Oso often says "it's all in the plan more or less." Well Michael uses this phrase in appropriate instances which makes us laugh!

Locked In

I don't have any pictures to prove it but last Friday (9/30) Michael got locked in the car.  As I was getting Brendan out of the his seat and into the Baby bjorn, a woman attempted to pull into the parking spot next to us.  Now, I have to say that I have a pretty good system of getting the boys in & out of the car, and a key to that is finding a spot that doesn't have a car parked on the same side as Brendan's car seat.  Once I get Brendan into the carrier, I lock the car, place the keys in diaper bag or pocket(this day no pockets), grab diaper bag, then help Michael climb out on Brendan's side. So, back to the story, at first I closed myself in between the car door, but the woman remained stopped half way in the spot to wait for me not realizing I had another child to get out, so I stepped out from between and held the door pretty much closed, not realizing that the lock latched.  At this point, I didn't realize he was truly locked in until the woman had pulled in the spot and I went to pull the handle.  My heart dropped, not only were my keys in the car so was my cell phone.  I tried to have Michael open the door but he continued to push the lock button, not understanding that there was another side to push.  So with no luck, I called 911 using the woman's phone.  While waiting 20 minutes for the police to show up, Michael was as happy as could be since he was able to "drive" which is something he loves to do.  He also told me as he sat on the center console, "Mom, I'm trapped in here. I'm going to drive."  I thought he would be scared when the officer arrived but Michael watched intently from the console as he opened the door.  Lessons learned & taught...Michael now hopefully knows how to unlock the front car doors!

What have we been up to lately?

I've been falling behind on updating the blog regularly, so here is a lengthly

All of the things/activities that keep us busy day in & day out...

riding the fire truck & taking turns
beginning to clap (9/24)
beginning to rock on all fours

cutting 4 top teeth ALL AT ONCE
going to "Mars" on a "spaceship" which Michael
designated on his own (beginning imaginative play)
finger painting & playdates with cousins
pulling out winter clothes & trying them on...

playing together...Michael loves to teach Brendan new things,
shares his toys, and takes turns

Brendan is much more alert on this visit - here
